Hot to get Romanian Visa (Tourist, Business etc) from Turkey? Application, Documents, Visa Process

To travel to Romania from Turkey, either you should have a valid Schengen Visa or you should get a Romanian Visa. Romanian visa is get from the Romanian consulate/embassies in Istanbul, Ankara or Izmir. Online visa application site is below.

Step by step I will try to explain the process and critical steps.

1. Before application read from Romanian consulate web site the last regulations and documents needed. For online application process you have to make ready the soft copy of these documents to be uploaded to the web site.  Based on Tourist Visa or Business/Work Visa application, document set changes a little bit.

2. For Tourist visa prepare pdf/image versions of documents in your laptop ready.

  • Valid Passport (Image/copy of all processed pages)
  • Bank Account Statement (min 2000 Euro in your Account)
  • Plane Reservation
  • Hotel Reservation
  • Travel insurances (EUR 30.000 coverage) – validity of you travel minimum
  • Photo - Schengen Visa format (have min 2 physical copy)
  • Invitations from your company or friend in Romania - optional
  • Any additional documents (house ownership etc.) - optional

3. From online application web site, fill the form with your passport info and other personal information. You can save the form and continue in other time.

4. After you fill online form and upload the documents, last step will be to send and approve. Do not forget to download the application form in this step to your computer. Otherwise after submitting, you wont have chance to download it.

5. Print the application form, sign and with all printed and real copy of documents you have summited online, make your physical application file ready in an organized way.

6. In 3-4 days they will give an appointment date to you if documents are ok. You can check this date by entering to evisa.mae.ro/ and checking you application status. Make sure you have all physical, officially signed versions of documents with you.

7. At appointment date in morning, half an hour before your scheduled time, be in front of Romanian Embassy ready. In door they take part by part people and its not good organized. In application they will ask why you are going to Romania, what you will do there, how much time etc. You should answer clearly and confidently.

8. After your documents are accepted, you will have to go to Yapi Kredi Etiler Branch to pay visa application amount in EUR. So have with you 100 euro. Branch is 10-15 minutes by walk from embassy. 

9. After you make the payment, you will bring the receipt and will leave it to the police in the door of embassy. Take a photo of it also, to have a copy with you for any case of problem.

10. They say they will inform you by mail, when your passport with visa is ready. In 3-4 days it should be ready. If no mail comes to you, write email to embassy or go directly after 13 o'clock to ask status of your visa. If its ready they will give directly the passport to you. This status is not followed on online web site.

11. Visa applications are in the morning and retrieval of processed documents back are in afternoon.

First impressions of Bucharest, Romania

Having never been in Romania before, in August 2021 it was going to be my first visit to Bucharest for work and relocation. Before coming to Bucharest, I heard from friends about city, watched some videos, documentaries to learn and to get familiar. In Bucharest you can find many Turkish restaurant alternatives. You wont feel that you are away from your country. Even in some restaurants, you will have better taste than the ones in Turkey.
